Martin Sumichrast is an entrepreneur, investor, merchant banker, and capital markets executive with over 35 years of experience helping founders and boards raise capital, execute acquisitions, scale operations, and create long-term shareholder value. He began his career in the investment banking industry, where he developed deep expertise across equity capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, and international finance. In 1993, he founded Global Capital Partners, Inc. (NASDAQ: GCAP), which he built from a startup into a global investment bank with over 500 employees and 27 international offices spanning equity capital markets, M&A, and international finance.

Today, Martin focuses on helping businesses grow, raise capital, and build lasting enterprise value through his work at American Capital Partners and his role as Chairman of Hawkeye Systems. His philosophy centers on operational discipline, strategic clarity, and a long-term orientation toward value creation — the same principles that have guided every venture he has led over the past three decades.

Built Global Capital Partners from a startup into a global investment bank with over 500 employees and 27 international offices, spanning equity capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, and international finance.

Under Martin's leadership, Global Capital Partners grew to manage billions in assets under management across its global network of offices and clients.

Co-Founder and CEO of American Capital Partners, Inc., a private investment firm dedicated to building and growing American businesses through strategic investment and operational support.

Co-founded and led cbdMD, Inc. (NYSE: YCBD) as Chairman, CEO, and President from April 2015 to June 2023. Secured over $100M in equity and debt financings, led the IPO in November 2017, completed the $135M acquisition of the cbdMD brand in December 2018 — achieving a $400M market cap, Russell 3000 inclusion, $250M+ in aggregate sales, and 200+ employees serving 1M+ customers.

Co-founded Adara Acquisition Corp. and led its $115 million IPO on the NYSE in February 2022. Adara completed a $600 million acquisition of Alliance Entertainment in June 2023.

Served as Trustee and Chairman of the Nominating and Governance Committees of the Barings Global Short Duration High Yield Fund, Inc. (NYSE: BGH) and Barings Capital Funds Trust, Inc. from 2012 to 2022.

Appointed Chairman of the Board of Hawkeye Systems, Inc. (OTC: HWKE) in May 2026, guiding its transformation into a private equity and merchant banking platform focused on crypto, blockchain technology, and cybersecurity.
